Reflections for IPW

We are starting on our script for the talk show on how it should be and it is estimated to be more than 3500 words. I hope we can finish it before the deadline and that it would be a nice script so we could get high marks.

Reflection for GRACE project(Ming Xuan)

The teacher-in-charge of our group did not turn up for yesterday IPW lesson. The group leader was absent too. The three of us was planning on how our script for the talk show should be and who will be the narrator or cameraman,etc. We will be doing the 3000-5000words report in powerpoint slides to make it clearer for everyone to see. It will be posted here in this blog. Do check out!

Reflection for GRACE project(Ming Xuan)

Today what we did was to post our survey results to the blog. The survey was quite well done and we can tally the results easily. It let us know how people understand about coral reefs and it was not really many. We hope our final product that we are working on now could help the people understand more and prevent more damages to the coral reefs. We had change our final product from an advertisement to a talk show as to make it more interesting and funny while spreading the message of coral reefs.

For this week IPW lesson, i miss it. According to what my group members had tell me,they mainly continue discussing on the final product. We tried using different applications to see which is the best compatible. I realise we can communicate better and hope that when we do our final product, it will be a smooth process.

Today IPW lesson was just briefly confirming on our survey questions and the people we wanted to survey. We will give our group leader the results as fast as possible so that we could gather all the information and prepare for our final product. I hope our group can continue to communicate well with each other and not be running out of time.

On monday, i was absent for the IPW lesson. However, my group has finished on the survey question which we prepare to ask the public. I will be surveying 30 teenagers. The results will be collated and posted on this blog. Most likely it will be a fun activity going round and asking people for their answers.

Today two of our group members are not present as one was absent and the other went for 

competition. That leaves me and my team leader, Matthew Kwok. We were brainstorming

on ideas for our final product. Then we played with Imovie which that are used for editing.

We were brainstorming on our project work today as there was only me and Farhan. We have finished our survey questions. We decided that we would be doing a video to show people what Coral Reefs are.

For the 6th lesson of the IPW,we look through on the survey questions again and found out that some of the questions are too general and needed several amendments before we start to survey others. Teacher also give us information on who to survey and ideas of places to look for people such as the underwater world. I hope to see our group having a smooth process in doing the survey.

Things that i have learned: I have learn that temperature will affect the coral reefs in the sea or ocean as if it is too hot they will die as they are not use to the hot temperature.

Reflection: Our team is getting the hang of working together despite arguing a few times over whose house we should go to ( about where we are going to do has yet to be decided ). However, the rest of the things are going fine like the part where we distribute the task to each member and we hope to score high marks together.

Facts

I have found out lots on coral reefs and what they are, their purpose and why global warming is 

killing them.

Ideation

We have brainstormed on many wonderful ideas to improve our project and to also complete our final product and have handed in our task on time.

Team 

I found out that we really bond well with each other and are able to connect our heart and mind into one.

Reflection!

I feel that the 6th lesson was quite boring as all we get to do was to draft the survey question

and get confined in the 4 walls of the classroom. I feel that it does not boost my creativity so I am planning of having a group excursion after the CA to learn more about the coral reefs.

The 5th week of IPW, we need to do a survey for the topic that we are doing. We can use the internet to find for informations and image of coral reefs, we are finding out about the coral reefs and what affects the coral reefs.

I feel that the 5th lesson was very interesting as we have finally finished on our project planner and have finished our survey questions. the next step to the project is to start asking the survey questions to the public.

The fifth lesson of IPW we have requires us to draft out survey questions and enhance on our survey skills. I had did some research on what kinds of activities cause destruction to coral reefs other than global warming. Our group will be able to finish their research by the due date allocated on the project planner. This week's lesson play a big part in our project as others opinion may help us elaborate some more in our presentation.

Today is the seventh week of G R A C E (Group Research And Collaborative Expedition). We have decided on our survey questions and it is posted on the blog know. I found out how to collate the data and collect it into tables, compute the percentage and present the findings in a table form.

Ideas --- What I think!

We can use the internet to help us and we don't have to go and personally poll people.

Learning Issues --- What I want to find out!

- How high the awareness the general public has towards Global Warming is wiping out the Coral Reefs. 

-  Whether we will need to raise the awareness / how much more awareness do we need to raise about Global Warming is wiping out the Coral Reefs.

We have now officially started with our project! 

Although we were stale at the beginning, we have now currently compiling information on the Coral Reefs. 

I feel that our thinking are in unison and i also find that my team members are very creative and innovative and are able to come out with many ideas for the project.

We hope that we can finish the project as fast as possible and not allow it to drag on.

What have we done so far?

We have given guiding questions to each of our group members on each categories to research.Also,we decided to have our final product as an advertisement or a powerpoint presentation rather than making an item out.The task of each member are allocated and the time start and the time due to enhance the process of the project.

What do we want to do next?

After all our group members had done their guiding questions,we will gather all the information and relate one another to put in the presentation.We will also find pictures and do survey for more information to better explain in further details.

What have we learnt?

I have learnt to do better in my planning towards my target. I also learnt to collaborate better with my group members and discuss to deal with problems we faced.This project let me have the chance to try out new research skills and i had gain more knowledge for the topic that we will be researching on.

We have chosen our topic for the I.P.W project and have decided the roles for each and everyone of us and are deciding whose house we should go to do our I.P.W project. We want to do our own question given to us and we hope we can do it easily, smoothly and effectively. We want to accomplish the project as soon as possible and we want to share our information we gathered and share with the others and know more about what we have learnt. I have learnt that coral reefs are aragonite structures produced by living organisms. They are found in the sea water with little nutrients in the water. i have learnt that in most reefs, the predominant organisms are colonial cnidarians that secrete an exoskeleton of calcium carbonate.

For the third lesson of the IPW project,our group had done some discussing on our end product which is to prevent global warming and climate changes to damage coral reefs.The end product,we agreed more on doing an advertisement,presentation,etc and not a model. Also,arguments will always occur in such discussions.For now,it is the chinese new year and we will be missing one lessons. Hope that we will be able to ctach up what we missed due to chinese year. Happy chinese new year everyone!

Today was yet another day of the GRACE project and as you all know it stands for Group Research And Collaborative Expedition. Today was very interesting as we were discussing on what to do for our end product. I think that we should do something that can actually help with solving the problem of the damage done to the coral reefs due to global warming but we have our arguments as some of my group member think that it is a hassle and suggested that we can do an advertisement so well that people from around the world can contribute by helping to do their part in stopping global warming.

I felt that the second day was quite good as we have decided on what to do for the IPW project as it was quite interesting and fun as we have incorporated many interesting ideas and inject funny stuff into it. It was fun and I hope that we have more fun next time.It was really interesting as i get the job of the encourager and as the name says i am in charge of encouraging the others as it is my job to encourage and hope i can do well in my job!

This week,we had chosen the topic we wanted. It was a tough choice out of 60topics given. Each of us had many different liking to different topics. However,we manage to choose one which we all had agreed. Our group will start research on the chosen topic soon. We had appointed different roles for each of us in the project to make things easier as one know what are the things he need to work on. I will most probably record down all the details found and summarise it as a role of recorder. The details will then be posted on this blog.

Reflections for GRACE project (Nahshon Lim) 1/8/09

This was my first lesson regarding IPW. Our group has discussed and narrowed down to 15 topics and we decide to take which topic next week. The IPW session was quite short and did not have much time in cooperating more with each other. I like the teamwork but we did argue a little over things like whose blog we should use. I hope our team can work better and faster next time.

Today was the first lesson of the IPW project. Our group have narrowed down to 15 topics that we are going to do on. The lesson was fun and i could see how seriously how my group members treated this project but i would say that just one period for the lesson is a bit rush for us. In the future lessons,I hope we will have a better communication among ourselves as we had some arguments for different opinions by each of us.

Hi. Today was the first day of the IPW project or also known as the Intergrated Project Work. My reflections for the first time is that i find that it is very interesting to know who is my group members and find that i am able to coorperate with them and while doing the work we had discussions to the topics to which we are going to do although there is some arguments but we hit it off well and manage to narrowed down 15 topics which are suited for us.
